Following a State Government announcement in August 2020, works have commenced onsite to begin improved access to the Northshore riverfront, a core component of delivering a destination for innovation, enterprise and creativity. The Stage 1 Waterfront Development will include a collection of unique fit-for-purpose interim spaces that embrace the area’s port heritage. These spaces will include a facility for the creative arts, a containerised community for scale-up innovation and ecommerce enterprises with a central riverfront parkland.

Over the coming months visitors to Northshore will see earthwork activity, with some building upgrades and new build scheduled for later in 2021.

The Construction Update for these works is attached.

Last week Carla, Tania and John paid a visit to the community garden in Preston Road, Woolloongabba. They met with Roo, who had conducted a workshop a few weeks ago that was attended by many of our committee members. It was an early morning start and Roo provided some piping hot Chai tea and fresh bread, which was greatly appreciated by all. The visit included discussion on how the different raised beds were constructed, composting systems and additional considerations  such as tool storage, beehives with native bees, water collection and distribution. This information will greatly assist us in the journey we are undertaking and the pre-planning that is being done to assure our community garden is the best it can be. There is much more work still to be done.
